It is worn down quite a bit, and the right side of the tire is much more worn down than left. Is this an alignment problem? Everything looks okay?

I know I have a problem with my back that I might not sit straight. I'll have to look again to see which side. And i've seen others with similar issues.

In the U.S. (where folks ride on the right side of the road) left turns have a longer radius so your front tire would wear more on the left side...I'm pretty sure folks in Michegan ride on the right side of the road though...so not sure why your's would be different

Usually in countries where one drives on the right, the left side of the tire wears a little more because of the crown in the road. But it usually isn't noticeable without a careful look.

That being said, I have to agree with Verslagen about sitting straight. Do you favor either side?

I just replaced my stock one at 6125. It was worn, but not dangerously, just more worn than I liked. Mine seemed cupped a little, but I think that has to do with air pressure. Left/right wear didn't seem much different.

Could the right sidewall be slightly damaged, making it smush a little more, causing worse wear on that side? Hit a pot-hole crooked, or rock or something? Did you buy it new? If not, how many of the 5500 miles are yours? I assume you hadn't noticed the extra wear on the right before recently.

I bought the bike new. This is the second rear tire I am on, and I didn't notice any uneven wear on the first tire. This tire went flat with a nail the season before last and the dealer patched it. Shocks look okay, never been dropped or in a crash. I do have some back problems and may be favoring one side or the other.

The dealer showed me a tire that was completely worn down on the "left" side from a Honda Shadow...the thing was down to the white threads on the left side, and slightly worn down on the right side. The dealer was at a loss to explain it. Sooo, defect in tire? who knows...
