I've often thought of that poem when out on a late night ride; despite the lack of trees in this part of the world. As for the voice that recites it, it is my mother's. She would read many poems and stories to us when we were kids, up til we got to be teenagers and "too cool" to be subjected to "that stuff". Glad she abused us so.
