Gots me a serious complication ... work schedule for Dragon week has been posted.

The people I had lined up to work my days of vacation have been one by one asked by the supervisor "as a personal favor" to the supervisor to work different positions and hours on my planned vacation days instead of working for me. He said that he did it because of the needs of the department as he covers the vacation time for the more senior people who are supposed to be off.

There is no doubt he's screwing with me to some degree, but he is all legal by the rules of the place where I work. He is supposed to schedule vacation according to seniority and he is working around the people who are supposed to be off and he is scheduling extra work days for the people who are supposed to be here.

So, not only am I supposed to work the week of June 26-July 2 I am working 2 extra days according to the current released schedule. And all the people who could possibly work for me are loaded up with extra days as well.

Looks like I won't be up at the Dragon this year ....

rest look forward to meeting and riding the Dragaon each
year.
Did you tell your boss, supervisor what this time off really
meant to you? Did you tell him , once a year I get together
with my Buds. They travel from all over the map for us to
be together this one time of year.
Yes I realize some don't give a sh*t. Most don't even care.
Just an idea and thought maybe if they knew that it was
the one time of year you really look forward to, it just
might help.
Again so sad as well that it seems you won't be meeting
the guys at the Dragon this year.
If it makes you feel any better, I won't be there either.. Kiss

I don't have any planned dates at this time -- I told my uberboss privately that it does no good to plan a vacation in advance as it only gets taken away from you as it gets closer. He understands he has a problem in his department as I was not the only new person left dangling AFTER having announced vacation plans over six months in advance.

I suspect that the crunch will be off later on in the summer as the oldtimers will have taken their vacation up already.

Somebody propose a date that does something good for them for some other reason and I'll see if I can get off. Something later on, towards some cooler weather -- with some avowed purpose that is worth doing anyway.

Serentity, yanking that sucker out and plugging a new one in and running off immediately up to the Dragon kinda sounds like a formula for some potential serious stuck out-on-the-road issues.

I never saw a swap out that didn't have some issues that cropped up in the first few weeks that didn't require some covers off work. But then I always buy me some broken stuff cheap .... it jest could be me and my "customised" luck.

Oldfeller, I'm hoping to get the engine swap done and ride to and from work a couple weeks to work the kinks out.

For those who can't make sense out of what Oldfeller and I are saying:
I was out riding around just for fun on Saturday and my transmission died, just in time for the Dragon trip. This being the second engine in my bike, a couple years ago I had given Oldfeller the old engine to re-build and tinker with, and now I'm maybe gonna put that original engine back in my Savage. If we can work out a deal.
