2012 Tail of the Dragon Trip (6/25-7/1)

We are starting up a new sticky for the 2011-2012 Dragon Runs and cutting the past 2 years worth of old runs loose to make room for the new stuff.

So lets talk some about this upcoming year's run. Starting fresh means exactly that, so what do you guys want for location and timing for this year's run?

Mind you, Verslagen is making noises about driving in from California for this year's run, so this one may be a bigger run than in years past.

So dates and places are up in the air and need to be refitted to the crew that is coming -- speak up guys, what do you want for this year's new and improved Dragon run?

If I am capable of making it, I will be at the 16th BIENNIAL WORLDWIDE GEEIA-MDA-EI ASSOCIATION REUNION, on JUNE 14, 15, 16, 2011, at the Treasure Bay Casino and Hotel in Biloxi, Mississippi. Keesler Air Force Base, in Biloxi, was where the Technical School that we went through. This is a fixed date.

Plan on riding, about 3,900 miles round trip. Since it only adds 500 miles, I am planning my cousin in Colorado Springs on the way back.

A side trip through the Tail of the Dragon only adds 600 miles more, so while not? So I am planning the Tail on Saturday, June 18.

The camping is about the same in the whole area, so thats a wash. It is nice to set-up camp and not carry the tent around the whole time. OldFeller Thinking of squeaky , what the fix for belt squeak ?

7/4 is monday, so that means everyone will be there that's going to be there for the 4th and some will arrive friday, some will come in thursday to stake out their spots early.

I suggest the weekend before or Paladin's weekend.

Might be a good idea to call and see what's up with reservations to see what's going to be hot.

I'm open to the date or location, but the weekend before july 4th will have too many rolling roadblocks (full dress hardly's, goldwings). My time is all mine now boys and girls so I am looking at catching as many of the assorted times/places as I can do. Baring any migraine episodes that can shut down a day in short order, I want to see some pavement out front of me.
I was thinking of maybe getting a room or rooms at a central location that will be available for folks who come in and out and may have trouble finding rooms for rent.
