Seats?
01/14/11 at 15:04:24
Hi, could someone tell me the different generations of seats for the Savage 650?
I know the older ones were different, which years did they change them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not 100% sure, but I believe up until 2005 they were 2 piece seats, from 2005-2011 they are a one piece seat.

Were there any differences in the 2 piece seats? Were there any years that were different than others? Any that didn't quite fit other years?
I got an 86 seat but it doesn't seem to fit onto the 96 properly...any thoughts?

We just got a 86 seat and it's completely different from my 05 also, I was told that the older seats would fit the newer bikes. Now I'm trying to decifer if it IS an 86 savage seat or if the guy ripped us off. It's totally different!

Hey Shiphteey, did you just sell a seat for an 86? Cause the funny thing is, I just bought a seat from someone with the SAME EXACT SELLER NAME on ebay, and it's not fitting! LOL!

How about a pic of the bike and the seat?
I know an '88 will fit on a '96 and an '02 for sure.
And the '02 fits on the '88 for sure. I need a few more bikes.

the seat on the right is not a savage. No way, no how.
well goto amend that... not a savage from '86 on.
I don't know what a 250 savage seat looks like.

Here's the seat from a '96. Notice the plastic tab at the front and the two metal tabs with holes toward the back, just like the one-piece seat above.
By the way, if someone wants this seat they can have it for the cost of shipping.
UPDATE: the seat is now spoken for.

I don't know what a 250 savage seat looks like.
A TS250 seat has hinges on the side. I had one back in the '70s. Nothing like the one pictured.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

YES, I JUST DID!
I had a 96 with a beat up seat. I ordered what the previous owner said was a 1986 seat on ebay. Looked really great. I tried to fit it on my 1996 and it didn't line up properly.
I chocked it up to maybe the older ones (4 speed) didn't quite fit the 5 speed ones, hence why I just listed it as an 86.
I'd like someone to shed some light on this. It definately didn't fit my 96. If we can get some consensus that 86 is the exact same I have no problem having you send it back, I can take it up with the seller who sold it to me down the road.
I was under the understanding that they remained virtually the same since they came out....but recently I heard the older ones were 4 speed....maybe there were more differences?

I just cross-referenced the Suzuki OEM number from 1986 and it cross referenced up to 1995 on RonAyers.com on so the seat I sent you isn't right.
