I'm also on the waiting list.

In an earlier post the question was asked about the use of a fork brace. If the bike is going to be riden without the front fender, I think one would be needed.

When you look at the fender you'll see there is a second piece of metal spot welded on the inside. the total thickness then becomes about 1/8". It appears to me that it adds a substantial amount of strength to the forks and prevents (or at least reduces) fork twist.

I purchased the SuperBrace. Not the cheapest thing in the the world at $167 with shipping. But, it's approximately 1/2" thick, generous radius on all surfaces and chrome plated.

Every SuperBrace is made of 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum and machined to a tolerance of + or - .002 of an inch, with a polished finish.

I don't think it's chrome plated.

That would be the bigger brother to mine.  It handles 4.5" disks rather than my 4" disks.

I've been thinking about cutting up the fender, leaving just that center section to use as a brace. It might look something very roughly like this:

Or I could find someone to help make one like these old school numbers:

The fender is soft steel, so it's going to do much other than looks.

Are those solid bar or tubular?

Are either one of these braces available?

Either style the flat stock one or the one with the two round bars would be effective and I'd be interested in.  The one with the double round stock  would be better off tubular rather than solid as a weight saving measure.  You are not giving up any significant strength if you go tubular and the unsprung weight savings would be beneficial.

Fit the tire tightly or around stock fender?
How far apart do you want the bars?
Strip of metal in between to be a fender or open?

I would be interested in getting in on this if someone decides to make them. Maybe something that resembles a small fender would be cool. Like this:

Its somewhat functional from a bracing standpoint and it will probably take care of some of the water and dirt spray up as well.

That one looks like it's just a chopped stock fender. Take your Savage fender and hack away.

The old ones almost always arched over the fender, but it doesn't need to be that way.

Last night I imagined a version where the brace bars arched from the front of the forks to the opposite side on the rear side, forming an X.
