My cages have been rear-ended by other cages four times, about once a decade.

He had barely come to a stop, so I don't see he could have avoided that any way. And did anybody notice, it looked like it bounced him right off the bike onto his feet?

I watched it a second time, and I don't think the rider looked at their mirror (camera didn't seem to move). Plus they didn't leave themselves an "out." Following too close and didn't move to one side or the other to see forward or slow down to make space. Lucky.
