(Apologies to the Beach Boys)
After too many decades, I now have a California bike. It's a new-to-me 2002 Triumph Thunderbird that had 980 miles on the odometer. In other words, with a mother, mother-in-law, son, sister-in-law, two brothers, two nieces and assorted spouses, friends and hangers-on in the state, I seized the moment and did the deed. Before I throw any more cliches at you, here it is:

Since I was (briefly) in California, I had to break it in -- so here's the route:

Yes, I got to spend a gorgeous Sunday on the Mulholland Highway, from Port Hueneme to LA the interesting way. I even got to stop at the iconic Rock Store for lunch:

There really were more motorcycles than cars -- especially on the stretch from the Coast Highway to Mulholland (waypoints 2 - 7), where the bicycles outnumbered all the other vehicles:

Incredible scenery, a true destination highway, and a darned good bike -- hard to beat!

My only complaint is that I won't be able to ride it again until August!
