I want to make some hardtailed struts, what kind of metal can I use for this? Anything I can find at lowes/home depot?

I think mine are overkill.I used 1" solid round bar.Probably depends on how much you weigh.

you can easily find what you need at lowes for about $12 If I remember correctly. just get some 1" x 1/4" x 3' piece of steel! All you need is a angle grinder and a drill and you are in business. Just make sure your lengths and holes are exact. That can end up breaking bolts do to uneven stress. If you weight more than 200 I might go as thick as 1/2". Thats just me though. With the bike as light as it is, you should be fine with 1/4"! If you want to go all out, you can weld them in place.... but I like to leave my options open.

These were on my bike when I bought it and have since been sold to another member here, but from old messages I believe they were about 9" eye to eye & the struts total length is about 10 1/4", made of what appears to be 1/2" steel.
Good Luck!

Thanks! That's what I wanted to know. I like the ones ejid had on his but the guy on eBay sells them for $70! Great quality I'm sure, but I'd rather not spend that unless I absolutely can't make them myself
