leave out the 1/2 gallon of apple cider and add more ever clear/moonshine   and yes its good stuff. I make it all the time along with root beer hooch

Years ago I worked in a factory that also distributed plastic window shutters that were made in Tennessee. I was working in shipping and this great big rig with steer horns on the front and a fantastic paint job backed in to the loading dock. Two guys got out all dressed up in western gear. One you could understand, the other had absolutely no consonants in his speech at all. After we unloaded the truck, they brought out some 'shine in mason jars. The guy you could understand said "Ever had 'shine affore, boy?" I said no. He said "Well you gotta set down to drink it, 'cause if'n ya don't, ya drink it an ya set down anyway."

Yup, I was told that my apple pie tasted too good to have alcohol in it and that it should be illegal LOL  

I've had some of that "apple pie" before, pretty tasty.
I've had 'shine too, and yep that stuff'll sneak up on you.  A college friend brought a couple jars back from down south, and we sat around playing cards and sipping that one night.  Didn't think it was too stout... until the first time I stood up and almost fell over!  I've heard of several people having similar reactions.
