I think I have a problem
06/07/11 at 12:15:45

I like motorcycles, I like this board a lot, most of you all seem very cool. other boards really really suck and in real life, I don't like bikers, for the most part, I don't care about tattoos, I'm not against them, but whatever, I don't care about drinking from bar to bar, I don't live for the next 6 pack, the whole machismo crap that bikers bring with them (even the girls) pisses me off too.

I like riding, I like wrenching, I like customizing and the art of the bike, I don't think that makes me your "brother" though.  I don't know, maybe it's just all the 13 year old boys in 45 year old bodies that ride that are getting to me.

okay, mini rant over, I think . . .

I agree with not living for the next 6 pack and the 13 y/o's trapped in a 45 y/o body...I would have to say that a small percent of bikers fall in that category though...Brotherhood is something that comes with common interests...We keep an eye out for our brothers and we lend a hand when needed...We lend a shoulder when a brother or sister is down...Tattoo's should have meaning and a story behind them just like scars...Mine does...I work in a profession that has a big brotherhood, and yes when a brother is injured or killed it hurts...Just like when a biker is injured or killed...Riding a bike is dangerous to some extent and we all know that no matter how skilled we are we could be a victim of circumstances...I believe that brings us together and forms a bond..

Motor with an accent.. LOL.. actually, that sort of alludes to the solution, which is to not take motorcycles and motorcycling groups as any sort of package deal.  Ride the motorcycles you like.  Hang out with the people you like.  No problem.

Beemers are evil. Well, mine was, drive shaft grenaded and ended up completely destroying the bike. Transmission split in half, frame broke in half... I'd had it a week. Still can't get myself to buy another shft drive bike (which is too bad, I REALLY like 1500 Classics and Drifters, 1100 ACE and Aero).

Triumphs are cursed. Okay, REAL Triumphs are cursed, the current ones seem to be okay. Could they have finally exorcised Lucas (Prince of Darkness)?

All 4 of my tats are memorials.

I don't have time for the bar to bar on their garbage barge bagger set. Or for Hooter's Bike Night (I don't like bolt on's)... Or to the HD shop to not find a Springer of any sort in the used line up (again).

No time for the doctors/lawyers/etc playing dress up on the weekend either. My steel toed jackboots are peg worn, my leathers are tattered from earning their keep. I have been known to take more than one of their women away as well...

Bikers are a rare breed, Harley (and Goldwing) riders are a dime a dozen.

I don't remember calling myself a biker. I know childish behavior when I see it. I wrench alone and ride alone. Most people have no idea of the amount of fun I have riding. I do it for me. There are good and bad people in any group. I usually do the worst thing I can do to the bad ones. I ignore them. And the only people I try to impress are my wife and daughter.  Wink

I call my self a motorcyclist,I only wavy when they wavy first, unless its a goldwing I will not wavy at them. Years ago they wouldn't wavy or didn't even see you at a rest area. Well after my wife died I bought a goldwing and the goldwingers would wavy but I wouldn't wavy back but would wavy at other bikes when they waved . When I wavy my left hand goes up no fancy stuff for me.

I wave at everybody. I don't care what you ride as long as you ride. Harley's, Goldwings, crotchrockets, even scooters, doesn't matter to me, I'm gonna wave!  Smiley We have a lot of people around here that have harley's and goldwings and they look down their noses at you and treat you as if you are inferior if you don't have the same kind of bike as they do. That attitude irritates the hell out of me.  Angry The closest bike shop to me is a harley shop (45 min drive away) and I HATE going in there! Their stuff is so overpriced and it isn't any better than not -big-name brand stuff. They give me attitude (at rest stops and gas stations and such) and I give it right back to them! I probably get away with it b/c I'm a chick but hey, whatever. They aren't any better than me just b/c they paid too much for their bikes!  Grin I prefer to ride alone.

I live in a tiny little town (we don't even have a traffic light) in the woods. Lancaster is about a 4 hour drive South East from me.  Clearfield is a bigger town near me. DuBois is the town with the Harley shop.
