If you own a dog just to scare people, then maybe you as the owner should be destroyed. Just being a smart a$$. No one should ever have an animal for that purpose. I have all ready been ask what type of dog Gracie was and I say an American Terrier. Not a lie just don't finish the final two words Pit Bull. People seem to react completely different, if their not give a verbal command to fear. These people fear the word pit bull. Look at my photo and does that look like the dog you associate with the attacks. True pit should not have cropped ears and stub tails. These traits are man made. I do agree with you that interbreeding has cause many social and behavioral problems. There are still some pure breed pits available, but like any quality thing, you must do your homework and check all avenues before you buy. I will say that if my animal show any signs of unexceptional behavior I will do what is necessary. Like wise if there is a reason for a provoked defense from Gracie I will control her. We have established our alpha order, and I think she understands who leads our pack,may be better than kids (just kidding).

I know everyone has right to their own opinions but some stuff said in this topic was just plain stupid. Openly discussing killing your neighbors pet? That's sickening. I agree that the situation sucks, but what does it say about you that the best idea you can think of is to just kill the dog? Some people saying the entire breed should go extinct... Who are you to play god? I agree a little bit with people on both sides of this argument, that certain dogs have certain charateristics and that those of the pitbull CAN make it a dangerous pet. But, the training / environment of the dog will affect its tempermant more than it's breeding. The bottom line is that being a pet owner should be a a priveledge, not a right and those that are not responsible enough to handle that, shoudn't be able to own an animal. Because at the end of the day, they are still animals and you cannot predict with 100% certainty what they will do.

Did you know that you can KILL a man, if you BELIEVE in your heart he is about to hurt you real bad? Why? You have a God Given Right to protect yourself,, more than that, you have a God Given OBLIGATION to provide for & defend your family, which you cant do if youre seriously wounded or dead.

Dont you find it odd how many who would force you to wear a seat belt, so you dont get unnecessarily injured & Cost Society $$$ because of your negligence, would Ask You to live with a threat to your life & or health like a blasted DOG??? Kina goofy aint it?

Are you on good enough terms with the neighbors
that you can talk to them about going 1/2 on a fence?
Their going to benefit from it just as much as you will.
Maybe if it is unchained it would at have a better temperment.
Chaining a dog up is IMO, abuse. No one should be chained.
Well with the exception of some in prison that is..

No not good terms,They haven't looked my way since they moved in 3 years ago,I think their early 30's I'm just and old man to them.They always had their dog chained,They just had to shorten it.Its a law here a dog can't be loose.Its their dog they have it chained,So if I put up a fence it would still be chained. They would have to put up a fence around their yard,But their renters so they want.

And yes, we keep our cats on leashes when outside. They were raised that way as kittens and don't know any different. We do this for their safety as well as respect for our neighbors who may or may not have cats/dogs.
