Would you say its a good idea or a bad idea to ride full throttle once or twice whenever you ride . Not to go top speed but just gun it a few times in like 3rd and 4rth.? Does that create wear and tear ,or is it benificial? Thanks

Blow the cobwebs out of it once in awhile. It needs to be opened up every so often for even wear on the piston walls, yeah thats it, even wear.

It's not something I plan. It just happens. It's good for me anyway.  Wink

I intentionally do open the throttle at least once a week if I can - i ride in stop-and-go traffic all during the commute, so I know the bike needs a 'blowout' to keep moving smoothly in between all that.

Usually get on the highway and get her up to at least 70 for some miles - works for the bike and does wonders for me too...  Wink

Used to borrow my mother's car and change the oil. I would drive it to town to get the oil and filter. Loved kicking in passing gear. It looked like someone was burning pine tops in the rear view mirror.  Grin

Huh er.....  ah....  You are talking about accelerating wide open throttle??  This is normal, isn't it?  45-50 mpg in the city!   Cool

Think of it as detoxing the innards of your bike. You don't want to do it all the time, but once in a while is good for engine and better for your soul.

What about additives?

Is it benficial to run some fuel additives thru every now and then? Or really dont matter?

Were talking carburetion here, so would I have any benefit?

God bless,

Farmer
