Fricking Kids!
06/30/11 at 01:02:16

It aint bad enough they got to gab on their phones or text or do their makeup ect. But get a couple of teen girls in a car and all bets of common sense is off!

Comeing home im behind a lil black car with two teen girls about 17-18 or so in it. Just a yapping away. Usualy looking at each other instead of the road.
They turn off onto my road and come to a complete stop in the middle of the road and just set there.

Of course they dont come to a full stop UNTILL ive just turned behind them off the curve.
Had to do one of them lean it hard one way into the other lane and then hard back to my lane. That or eat a bumper.
After i pass i guess they decided that wasnt such a good spot to stop and gab.
They had stopped on down the road a bit it wouldnt of been bad. But they stopped just as soon as they turned JUST as i turned in behind them. Twits.

Bad enough the soccer moms in SUVs with cell phones are trying to kill us. I guess its rubbed off on their lil girls now so THEIR trying to kill us. Roll Eyes

Wolfman, yes they probably learned from their Mom or Dad.
I see parents here driving around here, cell phone, kids in car.
We have a no cell phone law.  Some good it does, as I see plenty
here that still drive and talk. Oh you can use a blue tooth, etc, yet
that is not good enuf.
You wonder why kids turn out the way they do at times? I say the
apples don't fall far from the trees..
Kids IMO, do learn from their parents examples, good or bad. kim

Kids aint what kids used to be!
The last generation or two of parents have just let kids run hawg wild doing anything they want and giveing them anything they want. Their spoiled!
Try to get a decent days work out of one. Forget trying to get one to go work in the hay fields, build fence or cut wood, your SOL!
And unless its a video game their attention span is about 3 seconds.
Common sense is a thing of the past for most of them.

Both my girls claim im rough on them...lol
But get in a fight with one and she will kick your butt. Drop her off out in the toolies by herself and she will survive and find her way home.
Youngest like to take things apart to see how they work then put em back together again.
This is good but HAS proved to be a PAIN in my arse a time or two though. Like when i got to put it back together and ive never been in the thing before! Cheesy
He!!, the youngest outworks me sometimes. Makes the older one jealous... Grin

Oh it would take me all day to rant and rave about my teenagers!!  So instead, I'm going to throw in some good news.  My son, almost 20 now, just got the job he has been waiting for, paid fireman with our city fire department!  He is so excited, and I am so proud.  He has been working part-time EMT with the next county, which he will continue to do, just less hours.  He loves his iPhone and all that, but he's a great kid too.

My step-children, on the other hand, are the hawg wild ones.  I almost had the older one under my wing and trained, then he went to visit his mother for a week and all he11 broke loose.  Oh, I better just quit...  lol

"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on
frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond
words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and
respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise
[disrespectful] and impatient of restraint
" (Hesiod, 8th century BC).

One thing about living in a small town like I do is you can tell their parents. They usually don't care as long as the kids are out of their sight, but they still don't want a damaged car or a lawsuit. And I ask them, "What if I had been a semi?"

I must've had their grandparents in front of me tonight coming home from work! Stayed stopped through half the right turn light, then tried to stop twice in the middle of the road within the first two blocks. Took a bit of escape route ingenuity to keep from being the middle of an idiot sandwich. I got around them after the second time while the truck that was trying to rear end me stopped to offer a few "kind words of advice" and that old familiar wave!  Tongue

Comeing across the overpass the other day i seen two girls on a lil ole scooter. Shorts n tanktops(couldnt see their feet), no helmets, weaveng in and out of and around rush hour traffic. Both about 14 or 15.
Couple others i see ripping about every so often as well. Roughly the same age and on a small scooter just acting like they own the road and no cares in the world.

Kinda bugs me a bit. I cant ride a Big 500cc quad down a country road unless its a farm use only quad.(mine is). Of course i have to have a slow moveing plaquard(sp) and a bike flag. No night driveing and no faster then 30 mph(yeah right).
Yet ANY kid, any age, can get a lil 50cc scooter and run riot anywhere on the roads and in town. NO gear and my biggest gripe(besides no license or drivers training) is no helmet.
Way these soccer moms drive around here its a wonder you dont see a scooter a day wiped out on the overpass or main drag.
I think they at least need to be 16, have a license and helmets mandatory. Dont make sense. And they give us adults chit on a stick about our rides, our gear and special license. Just dont make no sense.

The problem lies with the fact that there are no consequences for bad behavior. I teach in youth detention centers and group homes.
These are kids who have usually run afoul of the law.
I had one female student aged 14 who was on probation for attacking a schoolmate with a knife. On New years eve she and three friends were drunk at a fast food place and were asked to quiet down by an adult couple. At her instigation they beat the couple up severely enough to put them in the hospital for a week, and stole their car. They were caught that night. She was back at the group home two days later, bragging about it.
The next Saturday she shop lifted a bunch of clothes from a discount store and attempted to give it away to the other girls in the home. he police were called, and she was given a warning and instructed to return the goods. When the store attempted to bring charges the police said they had already dealt with her and refused to arrest her. The store could not make a claim in small claims court because she had returned the goods. The judge put her in juvenile detention for TWO WEEKS as a result of her violence on New Years, then released to the group home again. Of all the kids I have taught she was the only one I was afraid of- a true sociopath.

Sittin' on the front porch after a looong week at work and tryin' to develop the energy to mow the lawn.  Kid across the street came over and said, "Hey Mr. Joe mind if I borrow your mower to mow your lawn.  It's getting kinda long and I know you've had a tough week at work."  Kid finished up in about an hour and told me he changed the oil too because it looked kinda black.

Then the girl next door called over, "Hey Mr. Joe, mom and dad are out tonight and I'm grilling burgers for my little brothers.  Come join us and dad's got some icy beers"

Two little guys from down the street came by just as I was going for my burger and asked, "Hey Mr. Joe, thanks for taking us fishin' last weekend.  Can we hose down the boat and wash your truck.  If you don't mind we’d like to wax the Moto, too?"

Then the alarm went off and I woke up to start another day.
