This won't be a shift rod,....it will be a 4" extension to the existing shift rod.
Reading that 2x was like turning on a light switch! I was thinking extension as well, but the best I could find was a 4" threaded rod but I needed a coupling nut to match (again, no luck).

If I can't find someone around here that can drill & tap that for me, I might get in touch with you again.

Here is a 6" shift rod extension.
The rod is drilled and tapped 6 mm RH thread both ends. Then screw a 1 1/4" stud (made from a 6mm bolt) and a jam nut.
