Thanks everyone!!!!!Grand Strand wrote on 07/15/11 at 17:00:16:T-Mack,
Congrats one the new job. I found mine about a year ago. It is always a relief. While you’re at Mack think about how we could turn the “maxidyne” in to a monster “thumper.” I’ve always liked the old slow diesels, and would like to see about something on a bike someday!

Best of luck,
Larry
Somewhere I saw that someone made a small diesel engine and put it on a bike (was that something Serowbot posted......

) I'm not sure I would want to put a clanking engine in between my legs. I get enough noise already.

They are still using Mack engines & trannies made over in Hagerstown, MD. I'm not sure how many other parts are Mack or Volvo. I do know Volvo made them go to SAP software and that made the prcoess slower for the Bill-Of-Materials guys.

Trust me (

), after about a mile and a half the exhaust was warm. Well, the Harley SE turn-out I had on anyway. The monster boat anchor Suzuki puts on might take longer.....
The Sportster I have now is about the same. Mile and a half or so...

Enjoy the rides to work and back on those beautiful roads
