This would be used when riding in wet weather. The unit would cover 80% of the shoe area, only the toe, sole, and heel would be exposed. It would extend about 13 inches up the leg under the rain gear pants. Do you people think this would be a possible help for riders.

They are meant for snow activities but work great for keeping your ankles and shins dry during wet conditions on the bike. I keep a pair stashed along with my rain gear.

They are called "spats" and are already on the market. There are also "gators" that fit inside the boot and extend up over the calf- made of waterproof nylon and used by x-country skiers to keep the snow out of their boots.
Now if you could come up with an inexpensive rain pant that won't melt to your exhaust, you'd have something.

The gators I have fit over the boot (& pants leg) with a strap running between the heel and sole and zip up the back of the calf. They are made of a waterproof "cordura" type material that won't melt on the exhaust like nylon would. Wink

These are made for other activities like snowshoeing, hunting, winter camping etc. Cheesy
