Flying car

pretty cool I think
"A line of flying cars has just been approved as street legal in Florida. The cars were approved for flight last year by the FAA.
The machine is called the “Transition,” — by a company called Terrafugia — and is fully car and fully airplane. You can theoretically drive it to the airport and then then fly it to your final destination."

Very cool also check out Moller Inc. They have a similar vehicle that is actually VTOL, no runways/airports needed. Its called the Moller Sky Car.

people have been doing this flying car thing for decades. They made one in the 60s that looks and operates almost the same way except, IIRC the wings had to be towed behind the vehicle on a trailer which was actually the tail section disconnected and put on a hitch. The idea clearly is alive and well but it'll never go anywhere past being a novelty.
