You might even be able to pick up a parts bike. I had one of those scooters. I loved it. Did he forget to check the oil? I carried a quart with me as seemed I had to add it pretty often. Reply #3 - 09/15/11 at 01:57:42 I'd say that there is a Chinese-built scooter motor that'd be a direct swap ... most units built in the PRC are direct knock-offs of many common Japanese-built motors. Lifan for instance are mostly reverse-engineered from Honda ... maybe they've copied some Yami's too?

partsforscooters.com sold him the wrong engine and have a no return policy......still trying to negotiate something other than keeping the $425 boat anchor he bought from them......yes the local yami dealer wants to rebuild.......I will keep looking though thanks for the input.

he is at least 2nd owner - 13K miles on a 50cc - it is his only transportation for many years to come.

brand new 2012 on ebay $2490...he does not have that kind of money right now.
