The air in your tires is the best shock absorption you have...
Sure , you have shocks, but what about the stuff below the shocks?...
Rims, spokes, wheel bearings, brakes...
These ultra-low profile tires don't have enough air to absorb shock... that shock is transferred to hard parts,... and hard parts tend to break when asked to absorb shock...
... if roads were smooth as glass... it wouldn't be a problem, but they ain't...

As far as larger wheels raising gearing,... yes, they do... But if that's your goal, why put a low profile tire on the wheel?...
A bit less wheel, and a bit more tire, is more practical in the real world...
(Even worse in cars... big wheel, skinny tires, play hell with ball joints)...
