OK, so now I know how to move a Grandfather clock. However, I would not suggest doing it exactly the way I did it.

I started on Thursday by driving 15 hours to Mississippi to conduct a funeral. Friday, after the funeral, I flew from Jackson to Richmond VA, arriving about midnight. Saturday (after still more changes of plans), my wife was ready to hold off on the clock. I wanted to at least see if it would fit in the vehicle. From there, things got much, much better.

My advice would be to go very slow, look things over, think before you act. We removed the weights and pendulm, put the clock in the back of the Expedition, wrapping it very carefully and then wrapped it some more. It was a long drive back home, stopping for supper and stuff on the way, but we finally made it home.
Then we carefully moved the clock in the house, put in the weights, pendulm, set it and then just listened to it chime.

My wife's Nannie bought the clock for Grandaddy back in 1977, my wife has always loved the clock. I am glad that we now have it in our home.

Sorry about the picture, it is my daughter's cell phone.
Happy wife = happy life!
