Mikuni VM38 & Filter with RYCA Kit
10/19/11 at 15:07:15
Im getting the RYCA kit but I cant figure out if the battery case will fit with a mikuni vm38 and the filter. The stock carb and the filter that comes with the case seems like a very tight fit.
I was looking at
http://www.knfilters.com/search/univround.aspx
for the universal filters with a Flange Inside diameter or 62mm.
Maybe a person have done this and knows the right size of the filter to use.

The outside diameter of the intake on the
stock
carb is about 57.5 mm. So filters with a 57mm or 58 mm flange would fit better. There are some with offset or angled flanges that might work.
As far as the VM goes, there's also the question of whether it's longer or shorter from the intake to the engine, and whether that gives you less or more room for a filter.
Since I'll be using a compact lithium battery, I'm thinking about modifying the front of the Ryca battery box to allow a longer filter. Gotta do some measuring.

Im breaking my head with it. i was even thinking of just putting the battery in some other place. I might just need to wait for the kit and work with it or just do your idea. I will just wait for the kit to arrive in the mean time i will work on the bike that the guy who stole it did some mods (neon lights, skulls on the tires, broken ignition, killed my back tire, etc...)
