You can, too, in wood. It takes a mortiser bit. The mortiser bit is like a chisel and drill bit in one. It is more a drilling-chisel than a machining action. Early on in the film it showed the CADCAM instructions, i guess for the CNC machine? Good post. Our motorcycles have vastly improved over the last hundred years thanks to innovations such as the one you showed us.

I never had a problem drilling square holes,But I've been looking for square bolts to put in them,anyone know where to get the square bolts.

I have the opposite problem...I keep trying to put the round pegs in the square holes

Ohh Good Grief,, I watched that clip & started hitting others,, theres a lifetime of interesting stuff out there.. "printed" objects, machining projects, gear systems, different engine prototypes,, crap,, I feel so inadequate!

I can make square holes like that. I just use a normal drill and then square it out with a small file. No big deal, except that it takes about 7 hours per hole.

I knew if I looked enough I'd find something on this. Not the footage from Roy's actual show, but the same tool:
Drilling square and other shaped holes isn't exactly new technology for woodworking apparently!
