A Florida Democratic Party outpost has taken down an American flag depicting an image of President Obama after a group of veterans complained that the flag had been desecrated.

the federal flag code – which in part reads: “The flag should never have placed upon it or any part of it, any marks, insignia, letters, words, figures, designs, picture or drawings of any nature.”

You could use your argument to do any defacing of the flag that you wanted. "I decided to put a picture of a turd in place of the stars, that is cool... right?"
Sorry.. not in my book. Not a turd, not a dove, not an eagle, not somebody's face. It's the FLAG.

It was obviously an American Flag that they started with.
They placed the image OVER the stars.

I thought this was the land of the free, I guess we are only free to do what the "Man" tells us is OK.

What about this, make the flag look any darn way you want and say that its not a United States flag but actually a flag for something else entirely (make something up it dosnt matter) I dont think that the U.S. can say that no one can make a flag that looks similar.

I am very patriotic and would never actually desecrate a flag myself but I do believe in your right to do so in the pursuit of protest and demonstration.
