Yup, the PDQ Bach of Latin America!

I loved how the "soloist" hit the typewriter bell for the musicians to tune to, just like the principal first violinist sounds an open "A".
Also watching the clarinets try to keep their lips in shape while laughing was a hoot.

One of the things I enjoyed most was that a big band conductor would let such a fun thing be played & that the people in the band had such a good time,

Actually, I'd have described it as a symphony orchestra instead of a big band. The composer of the piece, Leroy Anderson, had a good bit of his music introduced by the Boston Pops Orchestra under Arthur Fiedler. Some of his other pieces are pretty recognizable, too, such as Syncopated Clock, Blue Tango, and Sleigh Ride.
