Hi, I brought this engine recently with 26000 on the clock. I do want to recon it later. I have enclosed a pic of the cam tensioner can anyone advise me by looking at the pic weather I should change cam now or leave it till next year when i replace rings etc.
Cheers Paul

It currently looks ok, but it is way out there.
measure from the aluminum housing to the edge of the plunger that goes into the housing.
19mm is when you should fix it.
22mm may be too late.

Why do you think the rings need replaced?

You do make a valid point about the rings, I should just fit it in the frame and use it.

Hi, It measures 20 so I better replace it. Is it a difficult job? I am mechanically minded and have tools but never done this before.

If you can't get the verslagen1's modded cam chain adjuster, then you would either need to have yours modded locally or replace the cam chain. By far the easiest solution is to use a modded adjuster.

Read that.

Then find out more about it there.
V probably didn't want to advertise because he's jammed up and can't make any more at this second but those pages should at least tell you how to measure the chain.
Or he's a horrible salesman.

similar was my motorcycle. thanks guys, as suggested here, on this website about the limit of the service! then I did so
.
thank you again! until i got a new camchain .
mileage was-a total of about 20000 , with this mod is still approximately 3000 miles. i could drive and a bit more, but I'm not to risk it and replaced camchain .
