I think we're all bring a bike but some of us are bringing some few extra things too.

Time for me to reserve vacation days and I kinda need to know when the rest you guys were showing up, and some hints as to when you planned on leaving.

Monday is the first "the gang's all here" day.

Lancer is staying all week.

MM still hasn't said --- nor have you.  MM is in for Monday 9/16, Dave is still silent on the subject

Out of the group, you & I are the only ones scheduling vacation time for the trip.

MM, it's a substitute, and the Ruger seems to be cleaner than the traditional designs. And, it is all coil spring operated, less likely to jam up.

Dave, I'll have on hand: 72 VW Super Beetle "Cal-look" lowrider, 1949 and 1969 Dodge 1/2 tons, my 98 high bar Savage, 1971 Honda CL100, 1963 Honda CL72, Lisa's 1996 Intruder 800, and a rather retro first year 1500 Drifter (our friend/farmhand's bike, should have around 100K miles on it by then, currently around 90K).

You guys best start making a list of what you want to do besides fish, shoot/hunt, and get indigestion at the local eateries... Shiloh Battlefield? Fort Pillow Battlefield? Graceland and Sun Studios? Beale Street? General Nathan Bedford Forrest's gravesite? Steamboat tour?

Oh, my cabin tent split... plan accordingly. And if y'all have forgotten, the camping on my place is beyond primitive... And mid-September is still HOT here, bring lightweight attire... Heat index today was 112*F at the farm, pond felt like a bath tub.

Don't feel bad Verslagen, I live here and I'm never all here...  Grin

Well .... Sunday is Family day around here so I'll probelly leave out Monday moring soon as my bones-get-to-moving.   So Me and the tent should be in West TN. by mid afternoon.

WD did you say we'll have a out-house and a water hose for admiddites ?   Grin

which brings up another question ???  Will it hurt anything to get a little soap in the pond ?   Huh    Just kidding ... I was thinking of a fast driping waterhose over a tree limb.and a big rock or board to stand on.  Roll Eyes

Looking forward to it , and a walk around Beal ST. would be good ! Smiley Smiley
I had a rack of the BEST ribs I ever ate there ,

Hay !!!  Huh Shocked Shocked Wink    a ride up to Union City to see Dixie Gun Works should work-out perty good with this bunch !!!    For those who have never been there  its kinda like  a cross between the knife works (of Black Powder) and a history musumnm.    Tongue

I'll double check the hours at DGW, and some of the best fried fish in the state isn't far from there at Reelfoot Lake (for those who've never seen it, a chunk of the MS River stranded by the 1811 New Madrid Fault Quake).

Well, off to bed, have to either mow the orchards or get more tomato and pepper plants in the ground tomorrow. We'll have at least 100 tomato plants (10 varieties) and a couple hundred bell, poblano and jalapeno pepper plants.

Oh, guess I'd best plan to drive the tool, parts, etc truck... and I'd best get one of the other projects running too in case we need 4 wheeled transport for some reason.

OK, since I am supposed to be tenting with MM then I will plan to show by late afternoon time, Monday Sept 16th.  This will give Verslagen a day to recuperate from his drive and to spend a little catch up time with Lancer.  Both should be all rested up and at 90%+ by then.    (us old folks need some recuperation time to get up over 80% you know)

A week long trip, some riding, some fishing, some shooting.   Beef ribs, yum.   Dixie Gun works, fun.

Cheesy

http://www.usa.com/38011-tn-weather.htm

The above is the "general trend" weather for the area.   General trend says 60 to 80 (low to high historical temps) so add a few for WD's real world knowledge and we should be in 65 to 85 general range when we get there.

Below is the link for the 30 day running forecast which as we know from the Blue Ridge trip is totally generalistic BS until you get inside the last 2 weeks, in which case it becomes a lot more meaningful.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/brighton-tn/38011/july-weather/16512_pc?mony...

We should be in the nice camping weather zone, don't you think?

As far as the bi-daily camping bath goes, do we travel near a big truck stop on I-40 at any time in our loops?  Go in, tank up your vehicle and take a free complementary shower, isn't that how it works?   My motorcycle is a vehicle, ain't it?

Minimum of 50 gallons for a comped shower. The YMCA in Millington only charges a buck or two for shower and steam room.

Our "nice below average" temp of low 80s today was instead low 90s. Weathermen are about as useful as doctors and lawyers around here, not very.

Beef ribs? Yuck, all bone and fat, only fit for the dog, the local butcher shops all specialize in pig parts.

Well, I am glad the gang is all here -- wouldn't be the same without all the Dragon boys in attendance.

I mentioned I needed a 30 carbine case sizing die so I could post-size out some bumps in the seated bullet case (locally deform the cup & core lead core bullet a bit where needed) to make the cases slide into my chamber effortlessly and neatly.

All factory ammo is post-sized for this very reason, every single piece of it.   Lawsuits cost much more than an extra manufacturing step/station.

What I really didn't count on was that Americans have taken up reloading in a really really really big way lately -- There ARE no dies available from Lee and I ain't paying 2x-3x the price for RCBS, Redding, Dillon, etc. even if they were available.

I found a Lee die set sitting at Optics Planet, sent them the money and they missed their ship date and I had to contact them.   They said it was a B/O item with no known delivery date and did I want to cancel?   Heck yes, and thank you for wasting a week of my time while you KNEW you didn't have what I had ordered.

Tried again on Ebone, so far the man has my Paypal money but still hasn't provided me ship information yet.   I am smelling another no-show, I think I do.

(smells like dried possum guts on the front of your frame & engine, it does)

Boys, M1 Cabine, caliber 30 isn't a ball busting popular caliber, but it is 100% sold out on components and dies and everything else associated with it in any of the normal retail channels.   Secondary channels look bare, too.

If you want some real frustration, go try to buy something for 9mm or 40 short&weak -- yeah, you just thought you were gonna buy something.

Check your ammo supply for what you were planning on bringing.

Tula and Wolf and Fiocchi are the primers you can buy now-a-days (if & when you can find them).

9mm jacketed slugs do exist, but only as bulk style thin roller drum plated jobbies.   Ditto for 40 caliber slugs.

Like I keep telling folks on the S&W forum I belong to... buy a flintlock. Marbles are cheap, powder can be homemade if you are careful, and my driveway gravel is roughly 60-70% flint (pretty close to free per shot)...

You want hard to find? Lisa got rid of her .380 Bersa jam-o-matic that couldn't hit the barn wall from inside the barn consistently, and wants me to fix her late grandfather's .38 Long Colt wheel gun for her. It is an S&W K-frame (also known as the military and police or the Model 1905 Hand Ejector) Basque built clone that takes a Colt Detective's Special hammer nose... can't find a hammer nose, let alone .38 Long Colt locally. It will however handle S&W .38 Special, but all I can find locally is Fiocchi... in 120 something grain fmj, gun needs 158gr lrn...  :'(

Bring oil, the air here is kinda soupy... don't suppose you have any gaskets for the pump on a Franklin 312 .22 air rifle floating around... mine died.

Verslagen is planning to pop him some squirrels out of your pecan trees with his $79.00 Crosman Titan .22 air rifle.

Well, I'll bring mine and we can walk down the rows of pecan trees and you can see the ones that hide from me and vice versa, I'll see the ones that hide from you .....
