First, keep in mind this is an electric urban commute vehicle not intended for open road or hiway cruising (mfr specs are 20mph and 20 miles). I think some may have dismissed the operation of this unicycle too soon. Leaving acceleration and deceleration in control of your hands would be a very bad idea, as you can only imagine the result of applying either in an uncoordinated manner. Instead, in this application, acceleration and deceleration are a function of applying force to the handlebars, ala Segway style. This means that sensors will always maintain your front to rear center of gravity (COG) automatically, leaving the rider to deal with left/right COG as you already do now (i.e., coordinated turns). As such, I don't think it's any more dangerous than the Segway, and probably even safer because you have better swerving capability.
