Dyna muffler, re-jet and Raptor
10/28/12 at 15:50:02
Just finished dyna muffler ($35 on feeBay) re-jet and petcock replacement on my wife's 2006. Starts instantly, runs great, like a completely different motorcycle and no more big back-firing. We had adjusted the idle mixture screw previously and still had Big Bang backfires. Also, we were having the 55mph power fade from the petcock and that is gone now as well. No problem getting to 80mph.
It appears to us that the header pipe started to yellow after a 100 mile ride. Replies yesterday stated this wasn't a problem.

Differing colors depend on the temperature. First comes yellow, then brown, then blue.
A little yellowing won't hurt anything. I have a dyna muffler and a rejet. The header is just a tinge of yellow for about the 1st 3 inches.

It appears to us that the header pipe started to yellow after a 100 mile ride this morning. What's causing this? I thought lean mixture - hot running would turn the pipe blue, not yellow.
Any ideas.
Lean mixtures cause cooler combustion temps, not hotter.

If you think there's good in everyone, you haven't met everyone.
