What to expect after rejet?
06/01/13 at 20:24:47

I just rejetted my 02 savage last night Dyno jet stage 1 I have the stock air filter and changed my pilot jet to a 140 as it stated for stock exhaust. The kit came with 144 & 146 also, I did the Dyna slip on stock harley muffler mod which not sure if that is much different than the stock Suzuki muffler? The cap on the pilot screw was removed and the the pilot screw was boogerd up from the previous owner, managed to get it in then backed out 1 1/2 turns per Dyna jets instructions. I ordered two pilot screws for $7.88 each to have a backup. After getting everything back together I fired it up and it popped some but have done the spacer mod not sure about the backfiring yet really need to get the new pilot screw in to be able to fine tune it. I am wondering if with my mods if I shouldn't have went to the 144 or 146 jet?

Get rid of the Dynojet jets,.. and use real Mikuni jets...

I don't understand the appeal of Dynojet ...
Dynojet is selling weirdly numbered jets, and recommending jetting based on nothing...
They are selling kits to people that think a kit will save them the trouble of learning how to do jetting...
Jetting is based on breathing, temperature, humidity, elevation...
Dynojet has no idea...

Sorry,.. I'm ranting...
I just have a thing about Dynojet... they only have jets sizes renumbered to create confusion and problems... because, if they numbered their jets the same as Mikuni,... you would have no reason to pay more for them...
... and once you are in their loop,... you have no other resource than them to correct anything...
So,.. you'll buy more of their jets...

This is a Mikuni carb... Mikuni makes jets for it... it came with Mikuni jets...
Make your adjustments from their numbers...
With Dynojets, you have no idea where you started from...
Pointless complication...

yep yep yep
The only thing in the Dynojet kit worth having is the needle with 5 adjustment grooves for the clilp.
Mukini jets are 1/2 the cost of Dyno's

SNG,.. you posted into another thread with your same problem, and question...  This is just confusing...
Stay with your thread... I deleted the other one...
This was largely my fault for doing an anti-Dynojet rant at the start of your thread... my apologies...
- Serow

Now,... back to your problem...
Here's a comparative of Mikuni and Dyno jets... from the look of things,... they are steering you miles off course... making you far leaner than stock...
Quote:
Mikuni / Dynojet Size Comparison Chart

Mikuni--Dynojet
140-----149.3
150
142.5---152.0
145-----154.7
155
147.5---157.3
150-----160
152.5---162.7
165
155-----165.3
157.5---168.0
170
160-----170.7

From what I can tell,... a #140 Dyno main is equal to about a #129 Mikuni...
Making you enormously lean...(if  I'm reading this wrong, someone correct me)...
If you insist on staying with Dyno jets... try around a #162.7 equal to a #152.5 Mikuni...
...Or just get a #152.5 Mukuni at half the cost, and then you'll know where you are...

Here's the full link that I'm working from...

Once again, SNG,.. sorry for putting you off your own thread...  my bad judgement...
No personal offense intended...
I usually save personal offense for regulars here,.. I should give you a week or two to brace yourself...
It's just that Dynojet gets my drawers in a bunch...Huh...
