And, since you want to actually go cast aspersions on my stories saying they never happened, well, I jest won't bother telling you any more stories about these trips ever again.

And all the neat stuff that we did can just stay up there in the mountains for now on .... and all you "vicarious life" folks can go whistle for your stories, goodies and pics and stuff.

Besides, I don't really want to talk about the "abandoned" stationary TN patrol car video trap or having to take a meal in a jail cell anyway.

Today I left MM's around 9:15 and headed to the Blueridge campground while MM went to church.  My bike was in the trailer while MM was going to make the 6 hour ride on his bike....so I was going to the campground to unload my bike and meet him at the Dragon Lodge for dinner at 6 PM. While  on the way I found out I was not going to have enough time to do that - so I  went to the Dragon and got there about 3:30.  What could I do for 2-1/2 hours while I waited........Hmmmmm?  Well....I unloaded my bike and rode the Dragon for 2.5 hours.  Time goes by really quickly that way.  While I was loading back up 2 Goldwing's pulled in with trailers that were 57 Chevy's built to look like they were on car trailers.  They got a lot of attention....and a lot of snickering was going on.

MM and I got to the Blueridge about 9:30 and got unloaded....time for bed!

Yep Lancer, it is just me and Mike this year.  One fellow commented that it can't be a Suzuki Savage gathering with only one Suzuki....so this year it is the Savage/Sportster Co-Op Collective gathering!

We will have 2 days of riding....then head home.  We haven't discussed yet where we are going.

And yes...there was a bit of a friendly race between MM and I.  I don't remember it the same way that Oldfeller does.  Although we tend to ride around a bit brisk at times...neither one of us have perfected the art of Drag Racing! Roll Eyes

Yep, I had a car load of guns and ammo that I didn't want to leave out by the road to get stolen, so I drove on home.

Grass at the camp ground sure is lush and green, ain't it.

And since I was the official witness and you two were participants my remembrance IS what is official.

And I remember Dave being ahead and MM immediately hollering for a re-do so he could torture his poor 'ol Sporty a wee bit better on the next try.

Roll Eyes

...... and you two can report on the rematch any which way you want to -- if MM decides he really wants one that is.

Drag racing is right hard on a Hurley you know, tires and valve train and crank splines and all.

Dave,
On the Gold Wing trailers, those look like 55 Chevy's, not 57's.

Ride safe and have a good trip home.

Good hunting

I got cut short last year  with the migraines and missed this year entirely; first time in 10 years.
Do you think there will be enough interest to "Gather" next year ?
Sure hope so.

I would have lover to go this year but I just started a new job so I couldn't get the time off. I was hoping to not get hired until after June but I had to take the job when they were offering it. With any luck I'll be able to attend next year.

Any thoughts on a better time of year for the trip?

We do the current time slot because of teacher Toymaker was just getting out of school then -- but Toymaker hasn't shown up for the last what, 5 years now?

Scoot and Shoot wasn't really all that successful as a widespread popular theme, since only MM and I are the real McCoy cast boolit shootin' gun nuts.

What would you want to go to do?

Toss out some ideas ....

Ride.

Actually, I would have enjoyed the shooting part of it as well. I only have handguns but I like practicing with them. I've always liked riding the dragon and surrounding area but mostly just like riding. I could ride the same road every day for a year as long as it's a fun road to ride. But that's just me.

Graduated kids, Versy? Ain't it great? Our last (of 6) moved out about 6 months ago. I'm LOVING the "empty nest"!

Scoot and shoot? I'd LOVE it. I just Dragon wasn't so far away, it sounds like a blast. Maybe me and Serowbot need to do a Western version and do a Tortilla Flat run, but mid June in 110 might not be everyone's cup-o-tea.  Shocked

Sounds kinda neat... there is the western tenn. run with WD, so southwestern with SP?
You  have a few in guys in texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Nevada.... could work...
Of course you would know the best time of year... maybe a holiday weekend type thing in cooler weather...80-90 degrees Smiley

H3LL, it don't need to be summer.  You pick the best time of the year for a get together, I'll try to be there.
