Suzuki Savage Gas Leak?
02/17/14 at 20:22:57
Whenever I shut the Suzuki Savage LS650 off and park it in the garage it reaks of gas. At the dealer it didn't even smell like gas but when i bring it home and start it up for the first time and put it away it smells like i dumped gas all over the floor. Is there a leak? There is no visible signs of a leak around the tank or the carb. HELP!!!

i dont mean its leaking the fumes and the gas smell is coming from there. Does anyone know how to get melted shoe that my passenger off of my muffler?

Take out your air filter and look down inside the airbox... is it full of gas? Remove your oil fill cap, smell your oil... does it smell like gas?
Go to the Tech section of the forum and do the "vacuum petc0ck test".

Easiest way I have found is, when the pipe is warm (but not hot), scrape it off with a soft coin, like a nickle.

Is your oil overfull? A stick float, or partially stuck needle can cause gas to flow after shutdown. This would eventually full the card, and drain out the overflow tube, and down into the engine. This will over fill the oil causing it to come out the vent and into the air box. It also makes for very thing oil.
This can not happen on a properly functioning factory petcock, (I am sure they exist somewhere) or a raptor petcock turned off.

I just bought my Suzuki savage from the dealer and i've rode it and i bring it back and there is some gas leaking from the bottom of the bowl there the needle is. Is it just a bad seal? would the dealer fix the issue?
