...but,... might as well pull out the old motor, and put in a newer one...
...or,... sell the old bike and buy a newer one...

What I'm saying is 4 speeds is the least of your problems...
The difference is minimal...
I would either ride the hell out of it, and enjoy it, 'till it died... then buy a newer one...
...or, get a newer one...and sell, part out, or cannibalize the old one...

Rather than sink $500 in an $800 bike.... buy a newer one for $1200 to $1500... and get newer rubber, paint, tranny, bearings, etc...

...unless you happen to have a 5 spd sitting in your lap with nowhere to go... Huh

A 5 speed won't feel any better. Serow made a speed/RPM chart a while ago, and it's in the tech section. There you can see just how little difference there will be.

IMHO, anything above 65MPH is about the "comfortable limit" for this bike. Anything beyond that, and you can tell it's working hard. No worries though; she'll keep on pulling. Wink

From the tech section. Both of these are estimated speeds with stock speedo and rear tire size.

I'll be notching the arm myself. I was just wondering the gearing and speed differences I'll have different than stock. Jeff
