What situations make you nervous? How do you "Be Seen"?

Last in a long line and someone wants to turn left,,, be careful, or, if youre
'In the Gap" in a long line,, OR, in Front of a line,, WATCH heads and eyes,, and move back & forth across your lane, dont give them a headlight they can lose in the background.. The "I didnt see him" after a left turn into an oncoming bike is no real comfort to the dead or injured rider.. Neither you nor your family will be comforted knowing the death or injury wasnt YOUR fault,, Kinda sux having to stay so focused,, but its that or,, well,, anyway, part of the fun of riding IS being focused,, that blocks the rest of lifes Bravo Sierra out.. focus, not fear,,

I'm looking for a summer riding jacket with all the damage panels and it has to be yellow hi-vis. Found the helmet I want Bell EVO Revolution. Actually got to try one on the other day! I'll be putting additional tail and brake lights on, bar end turn signals and bright paint. Maybe even reflective graphics. I don't care if people see me as a circus clown, at least the SEE ME, and that is most important. I'm not dressing to look cool, I'm dressing to survive.

When they see a bright orange vest, they expect to see a road worker on foot, not a biker traveling 50mph... I wear black leather and a white helmet... hoping they'll think I might be a cop... ...

What makes me nervous? Car pool (HOV) lanes. Where I live, they are an after thought, and have no shoulder for debris to settle on, so it settles in the HOV lanes. I avoid the HOV lanes, which annoys the cagers on the freeway.

I wear hi-vis jackets and vests. In addition to being seen, I also want to be heard, the dyna muffler alerts cagers that I'm close by. There are several military bases in the area, so hi-vis jackets on motos are a common sight. The hi-vis jacket, as an expression of style, speaks to the motorists ... it says "I'm not here to play games". This annoys the squids. I get compliments from wives of motos, and truckers.

I don't ride fast enough to get in to too much trouble, and the Savage's maneuverability has allowed me to avoid three crashes in the last eight years, last one about a month ago. (Yes, I keep count of close calls.)

I've learned to spot bad drivers, and when I spot them, I keep them in front of me. If they're texting while driving, and we're stopped at a light, I like to, um, accidentally, toot my horn while the light is still red. Then I wave and smile at a random pedestrian (They often wave back.)

Just bought this 'Hi-Vis'. Bit to warm to wear it now, but I will.

It was at the local County Fair, and this was a, over run. (as a example of their work) They were priced at 69.95, + your logo. (I, 'negotiated', to a MUCH lower price)

If you can't read the back, (which is also on the front),
It is the well known, (at least here), Logo for MnDot.
(Minnesota Department of Transportation)

The only problem is, when people see that logo,
they are used to seeing people standing around, holding up a shovel.
Not driving something ! Wink

However. In earnest. It is plain old, 'Defensive Driving".

ALWAYS, Think, and Plan for the fact, that, Every other person on the road, and any time, could do something that would put you in harms way. Cage or MC.

I just bought the Olympia Renegade Jacket with the Hi-Vis stripe, very pleased.

However, watch the sizes. I am 6", 200 lbs, 34-6" waist. The Small fit me!

I also wear the Rev'It Airwave pants, ICON 1000 El Bajo boots and an HJC flip up helmet. Also Rev'it gloves (a summer and a cooler weather set)

Studies have been done and that is where I got what I was talking about.
Of course being as visible as possible is good,but you can be visible and still be overlooked in traffic. I don't use high beam in the day,I will flip high and low if I feel like I'm in a vulnerable spot.I weave in my lane so my head light catches the eye..BE visible,AND force their eyes to see you.
