Been there....done that....won't work. I tried a lever, perch and hot start lever from a Honda CR bike. The first problem I encountered is the lever and perch don't have enough travel on the clutch cable for the Savage, and the clutch will not release.

So then I adapted the hot start lever to work with a GSXR 650 clutch lever and perch. The clutch worked fine - but I then discovered the hot start lever just doesn't have enough leverage to pull the exhaust valves open if they are closed.

My ultimate solution was to get a BMX bicycle brake lever and use it to pull the compression release. I am using 7/8" bars - so you would have to find a lever that fits 1" bars or cut the opening in the perch bigger to fit the 1" bars.

I also had to make a new mount and lever for the engine to give the lever more travel to match the amount of travel on the lever.

To make the cable you can use the Venhill throttle cable kit - or I used cables and sleeves for bicycles - but I had to make the end fittings out of brass and then learn how to solder stainless. The Venhill kit has steel cable that is galvanized and easy to solder, and the fittings included in the kit may work with the lever...not sure.
