Belt drive on gravel roads? (Read 74 times)

Posts: 124	Belt drive on gravel roads? 12/23/14 at 15:19:23 I was wondering if there would be any concern with the belt when driving on gravel roads or muddy roads. About 1/4 of my driving is on gravel. Would a chain conversion be something to think about?

The chain conversion would be something to think about if you start having problems......but that stock set up has a lot of guards around that belt that help to keep it protected.

It really depends on what kind of gravel is on the roads, how fast you ride, etc. You will know before long if you are going to have a problem.

I only ride on gravel roads when MMRanch or Oldfellor get me so lost that I have to follow them down a gravel road to get home.

Someday I will be old......But not today!

When I go out in the mountains a lot of the roads are old logging roads and mining roads. Usually they are crushed shale that is pretty decent to drive on with a few washouts ect. The gravel I find the worst is the county roads around home. Lots of marble sized gravel and some golf ball size.

I was thinking it would be easy to make a simple skid plate and a small mud flap for the front fender to cut down on the sand blasting the engine gets.

I put a used one on... If you have concerns,consider building a deflector. Anyone who has a problem with how it looks can fix it. It's YOUR Bike, do it Your Way.
