I thought POR15 was black
learn new stuff every day

The tank sealer is silver.

POR15 coating is available in black, and maybe a few other colors.

I used the POR-15 tank sealer on the Gilera Saturno I bought in February. Seems to have worked well, but don't skimp on the preparation - follow the instructions to the letter. Especially drying the tank out thoroughly at the end. What my partner doesn't know about what I did with her hair dryer won't hurt me.

Prepping chemicals were safe on paint for me - but the Gilera paint is pretty high quality.

I used wax covered (crayoned) bolts as bungs for threaded holes to stop the sealant filling the threads.

that's one thing I've read that I like about the Caswells (never used it myself) a bit of surface rust supposedly makes it stick better

I got the kickstand in and then fought the war of the worlds with the rearset bracket. Check my blog below for the chaos! Roll Eyes

Got the trailing arm welded up and painted. I'll still put more bracing on it once I get everything else put together. It'll be pulled apart in the late fall anyway.

Rear brake on and adjusted. Need to adjust the shifter; not going into gear. Mounted the right side mirror. Drilled and bolted the rear fiberglass and velcroed the seat on for now. Just got the POR 15 so I'll seal the tank soon. Need to do the bondo work first. Getting close!

Was out working on the tank lights. The hi beam and neutral lights work, but the blinker light thing is stumping me. Tried a regular bulb but it constantly blinks, tried an LED, still blinks but the bar ends are only half-lit. Tried the old flasher, didn't help. Wired it up 2 different ways, neither worked. I think for now I'll just pull the 3 lights, cap the holes with some nice buttonhead allens and run without them. I'm guessing I might need a 3 prong led flasher.  Cheesy The Acewell has the indicators so the tank lights are a bit redundant anyway. Wink It will make hooking up the wiring through the tank easier too. One bundle of a few wires to the key connector and I'm good. Cool

There is no reason to go to a 3 wire flasher....our bike is not wired to use that type and everyone else gets the 2 wire flasher to work.

I would suspect that you have mixed up some wires.  The most likely suspect is the black, black with white dashes, and black with white stripe.

If you disconnect the wires that used to go to the indicators on the gas tank.....do the flashers that are wired to the turn signal wires in the headlight bucket work properly?

Yeah. I think it is standard bulb vs. LED. Not a big deal though. The gauge lights and the bar lights work. I'll be hooking up the tail lights in a few days and let you guys know if anything goes wonky.

If you have replaced the flasher with an electronic one....it doesn't care what kind of bulbs you use....or if you mix LED and conventional bulbs.

The electronic flasher will flash the bulbs the same, doesn't matter what size  or how many...LED or non LED.  Disconnect them one at a time until it flashes normal....and try to isolate the wiring connection that is causing the problem.

The biggest problem was that I couldn't get the tank light to stop flashing. Maybe it needs to be on the other side of the flasher circuit.

You shouldn't be connecting anything near the flasher.....that will complete the circuit.  All your connections have to be made after the directional switch on the handlebar.  If you connect anything on the flasher side of the switch....you are completing the circuit and the flasher will jump into action as a result.

Hmmm, interesting. Didn't know that. I'll come back to it when I pull the tank, tail and side panels this winter. For now I just found some upholstery caps from a Nissan to fill the holes. No sense spending more time on this when I could be getting it closer to being on the road.  Smiley
