Offset shock/swingarm

I searched Google and this forum a few times and couldnt find anything so I figured I'd start a thread. Does the offset on the left rear shock and left side of the swingarm bother anyone else or am I alone on this? I fitted a 1977 GS550 rear wheel and it looks so horribly off-center because the rear is so assymetrical. Has anyone corrected this? I may end up making a whole new swingarm because I think it looks hideous and just can't get over it. Thanks for the help!

In stock form there is enough stuff in the way that the offset is not very noticeable. When you take things off and clean the bike up...it becomes obvious. I like the belt - but don't like the offset....so I stuck my license plate on that side to help hide the offset.
