18 inch rear conversion

So much good information on this site. What I want to do is convert to chain and run a 18 inch rear, what rear wheel Assembly can I use and still use the stock brake cover. I knot some vs550 are 18 with 36 spoke. I side find some info but not really specific. Any help thanks..

This would be great, but to post in the tech section you should know what you are doing in the 1st place. Questions belong in the RSD.
But of course if you find out how to do this, list the parts with 36 8x10 glossies with circles and arrows complete with descriptions we'll move it right back to the tech section.

If any spoked rear wheel is a bolt on....I am not sure which one. Most likely it is a Suzuki one, and from the 70's....so the wheel is most likely from a parts bike with corroded spokes, rusty rims, etc. If is is a nice one, it most likely won't be cheap.
Most of us that convert to the 18" wheel buy a new set of spokes and a new 2.50x18 or 3.50 x 18 rim and use the original hub.
With a normal 110 or 130 size tire - the stock swing arm does not need to be modified for clearance.

You can take the stock rear hub and send it out to Ryca or Buchanan's and they can rerim and relace it up to 18"
