Fixed fender clearance?
06/07/15 at 11:18:13
i remember seeing on some motorcycle builders tv show the guys using some sort of tubing taped to a tire to get the clearance req'd for a fixed fender on a rigid frame.
anyone know what the clearance would/should be on our softtails (max shock travel) or on rigid bobbers?

If the fender moves with the swing arm then all you really Hafta have is
enough to allow the tire to get taller at top speed.
Soft tail, need clearance when suspension is crushed.

I have a gravel drive....and I need to leave enough space so when the gravel gets stuck in the tread it doesn't scrape between the tire and fender. I believe 1/4"- 3/8" is enough.....

OCC used to use bits of round bar
of course their bikes are more for looking at than for riding, and on the ones they built with suspension the fender mounted to the swingarm
I will say My stocker will rub (the bolts holding the bag mounts on) at full compression leaned over, but that's with the taller 140 / 90 tire
