Decompression cable adjustment?
12/10/15 at 19:21:14
Does any Savage Guru know the correct way to adjust the decompression solenoid cable? Clymer doesn't. It is supposed to hold open the exhaust valves for for a 1/3 or 1/2 second so the starter motor comes up to speed and cranks the beast.

Thanks for the quick response.
I still have questions though
It states to place at TDC ok, and measure for 3 to 5mm of solenoid throw ok, BUT there is no way your fingers can provide enough force to push the plunger in all the way to open the exhaust valves. So are they saying 3 to 5mm of plunger travel will be adequate to open the exhaust valves Hmmm? My starter does have a tough time cranking right at first compression stroke. Battery is good 14.7volts with a trickle charger on it.
I'm thinking 2 to 3mm of travel will work better?

The adjustment procedure is in Clymer's on p 48 & 49.
You're looking for 3-5mm of slack to give the solenoid time to get moving before it starts pulling.

I know how that works. I needed almost two full steps to get the gym doors open. And Ray Parent could smash one open with a dodge ball from half court. Should I explain what happened when he put one in my ear as I was walking off, after being put out?
