Harley grips? What fits? Anything??!

I've noticed that it is very hard to find options on throttle tubes for metric cruisers, but Harley throttle tubes are a little easier to come by, though not anywhere as available as 7/8 inch tubes. However, Harley throttles look like they have too much plastic in the way of the switch box housing; they lack that groove. Will Harley grips/throttle tubes mount on without modification, or do I seriously have to butcher that stinking switch box?
Will it work anyway? Has anyone tried it? I read that WD deleted the switchbox and went with a panhead throttle assembly. Does he have a cutoff switch, or does he have to use the key?
1 inch bars sure stink
I've worn myself out trying to figure out how to customize my grips-- even thought of coke bottle grips. I ended up buying a used oem throttle after burning myself out.

I've only seen 2 types of throttle tubes (that I can immediately recall) for the 1" bar.
Get the one that looks similar.
You may need to remove a little plastic flange where the cable hooks into to be the same as ours.

My Triumph has 1" bars and the rubber grips are pretty nice.
I have had them off a couple of times and they are a quality product.

Perhaps a silly question. What is wrong with the standard Suzuki grips?
The grips on my 2014 S40 seem to be quite decent.

They rot in the sun. Turn into sticky goo and roll off as little rubber mouse poops.
Plastic sleeve is plastic sleeve. I use a Harley one on my 2003 daily rider with stock switches. The cast zinc sleeve from LowBrow or J&P works with stock switch gear.
The 98 that burned up its harness had the Pan era housing, toggle switches under the seat, Vincent-Pan-Knuckle levers and perches, and drum front wheel. New harness almost done, total loss electrical system for track only use, no lights.

I haven't had my S40 very long so maybe they won't stand up.
Have you tried the Triumph grips? My Bonneville grips are 10 years old and still look decent. They are made of some kind of plastic not rubber.
It is also possible that the plastic throttle sleeve will fit the Suzuki switch housing.
