The head is doing great. I'm getting some crunching in the neck, though. I'm thinking I better see a chiropractor. It made some scary noises when I hit it.
Dave, I was walking, stooped over, and Thought I was clear. I didn't Jump up, I just started standing up easy. People don't realize how fast they are moving till they contact something that isn't and Won't.
I'm sure a trip to the ER would have been better, but I don't want stitches, I've been injured before, seen what a knuckle looks like, didn't see a doctor then. I was on a rig, tough up or go home,,
The cut will heal. I'm worried about the neck. I cracked three vertebrae years ago, and it made noise back then, too. It was really noisy when I hit . The crunching and cracking sounds were loud

Aaaaaah! Stop saying "crunching and cracking"!  Shocked I'm getting a bad mental image.  Grin

I did the same thing years ago except I didn't cause any damage. I just had a headache for a little while. Try some Advil. They worked wonders for me last time I was hurt.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

I used to walk into the lift in my shop like that
boss could hear it all the way in the office
He always marveled at the hardness of my head

I'm not often working in that kinda spot, but im considering a hard hat. That would have changed the whole thing. Not sure just how different the neck would have been affected, but the blood letting would have been avoided.

I can see the value of those, but a real hard hat absorbs and deflects.

Age.  When I was young I worked for was employed with Ma Bell, expected to wear a hard hat.  Down in a manhole I bumped into things with a hard hat.  Without the hard hat, hair touched things two inches before the skull hit anything.

You probably used to have hair also.  Humans evolved with hair on the head for protection.  You ain't got the natural protection no more.

going from crouching to standing is different
two inches gives nowhere near enough warning to stop
I had LOTS of hair when I worked construction, still cracked my noggin on things (I was one of the guys who had a habit of taking the hardhat off when de boss weren't looking)
lucky for me my head is harder than a hard hat  Grin

Wearing a cap, hoodie, obscured vision. Preoccupied with the job, and I had already successfully made the same move at least six times in the last hour. And yeah, you don't even know how fast you're walking till you hit something, I was stooped over, feeling pretty okay, preoccupied, and stood up too soon.
