No.....but it is why the exhaust can sound a bit like a VW beetle!
There are a number of things that make the bike torquey. The most significant contributor is the fact that the engine is a big single - with a long 94mm stroke, mild camshaft/ports/valve size that provide for good flow volume at low rpm, small diameter exhaust header....the bike is designed to run very nicely at lower engine speeds, and to me the 2,000 - 4,000 rpm range is where the engine seems to run best.
The engine was made to be a very mild mannered engine.....and it can be modified to increase the stock 30 HP to somewhere around 40 HP with changes in the piston/cam/head/exhaust - but it will never be a performance engine that can compete with a sport bike.
