Some jackwagon tried to hotwire my bike
06/21/16 at 15:52:45
So, yeah. They clipped the wires to the ignition switch and twisted them all together. The kill switch was still open. Jerks.
The bugger of it all is that I moved into a new apartment WITH locked garage space 2 days ago, but I couldn't park the bike there because of all the crap waiting to get moved upstairs.
Does anyone know the gauge of the 4 wires running to the switch? I'm getting ready to order connectors and a crimper while at work, don't have the bike in front of me.

Someone tried to steal a Savage/S40!
That's a first!
Just playin'! Sorry for your bad luck. I can't help you either. If it matters, Auto Zone sells small spools of wire in different gauges.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

I couldn't believe it either!
I ordered a ratcheting crimper and some decent connectors. Hopefully I can get it sorted out by the weekend.

Just remember, you'll have to sit in that seat too.

Maybe he meant (or assumed jokingly) that the "ratcheting crimper" was to pinch your 'manhood' when you sit on the seat trying to steal the bike.
Or maybe not.

Think 14 and/or 16 gauge. Should be a easy repair.

Yeah, piece of cake... That still required 2 trips to the auto parts store. One of the fuses blew.

The trick is to remember what you went in there for in the 1st place.
