Dual pancake air filter setup!
12/07/16 at 07:35:52
So I just got done throwing this together the other day. Tool from the mighty verslagen's words and made sure to keep to stock air duct coming from the carb to ensure optimum straight airflow. Put together with pvc and rubber connectors. Filters are hand piled with k&n oil, (not spray) and ready to roll. Only issue is now I need to reset and km completely new to this.
Anybody able to tell me how/ what type of jet I need to do. What all do I need to do to make my bike run as best it can with this setup.
The only other time I've seen the dual air filter setup put together is by deleting the rubber duct that is necessary for best performance so I'm hoping I have made the best air flow setup for the savage. In sure it needs some tweaking and I'd love some input. And ofcourse km gonna paint the pipes black ;p

Graven,
Lancer can probably get you in the ball park with the jetting that you need.
A lot of us are going to be curious about how the dual filters work out for you. Keep the information and pictures coming.

Looks like a clean straight forward installation.
How does it run ?.

Well sort of a long story. I thought my fuel and air mixture screw needed adjustment because she wouldn't cranky turned out my battery just didn't have enough juice. So now my mixture is screwy and until the rain stop so I can roll it out of my garage for adjustments I'm dead in the water. She'll crank then die right after.

Also what's a good thing for me to keep handy incase I get into some rain. If it's heavy I'll pull over but if I have to ride in some lite rain what do I cover the filters with?

Graven,
Lancer can probably answer your question.
I am thinking that a piece of sheet meatal to cover the front and top of the air filters would do the job.
Look at the older Sporsters bell shaped cover over the air filter, may be another way to do it. I rode Sporsters in the rain and never had any trouble with water getting into the carburetor.

Mine are a little larger and I don't have an issue with light rain.
But they are foam and if yours are K&N then I would not worry about it.
The oil should repel the water.
Even then, a little moisture won't hurt it, just don't put it away wet.
I would bring the outside even with the frame, then you might not have any issue with it. but a HD-isk bell cover should do the trick. But they're under your legs so they don't get to wet anyway.

I was going to say the same basic thing that Verslagen did.

I suppose the 2 90° bends aren't helping anything but this engine
should
breathe ok with twice the filter capacity.

Also, verslagen, they are not k&n's. They are exact replicas of them by Ryca the ones they sell for the cafe racer mod. I did use k&n oil to oil them with.
