There's nothing marvelous or mysterious about it, it's 5w oil. I see no benefit of adding 5w oil to either the fuel or oil. Adding oil to the fuel makes your mixture lean. Adding 5w oil to the oil tank lessens the amount of 40w oil in the tank.

I dump a teaspoon full in the tank once a week or so. I never use it in the crankcase.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

MMO is more than 5W oil .. it has solvents as well
A good old tribologist at BobIsTheOilGuy username Molakule did a University lab test on MMO and posted it here

According to Wikipedia...
However, it was implicated in at least one aircraft accident where an engine suffered catastrophic damage during take-off after Mystery Oil had been used as a fuel additive

I'm sure that using Rotella and changing the oil on time is the best way to go. My use for MMO would be maybe to add some to the gas and oil about 100 miles before a oil change, thinking that it might keep the clutch plates clean, and the carb also.

3 in 1 works better, if for no other reason it's easy to add 2 or three drips from the container.

That's like saying I had a scarf on when someone threw open a door and broke my nose so I'm never wearing a scarf again.

WHY was a fuel additive used? Engine acting up?
Very faulty logic being applied.

In older air cooled aircraft engines the lead in the fuel was used to lubricate the valves in the valve guides. When AVGAS 130 was banned and replaced by 100LL, some pilots used MMO as a "top oil" to lubricate the valve train.

C-85 and O-200/O-300 Continentals are prone to having lead deposits build up on exhaust valve stems. MM helps soften deposits and prevents valves sticking. I used to use it all the time on my Cessna 150.
