I agree J Mac. It’s cool that I was researching and pondering the same topic as some folks 15 years ago. More than once I’ve posted a “new” question that’s been asked/answered/debated and beaten to death many moons ago. I found this post and resurrected it instead. I was actually more interested in maximum speed by gear. That’s kinda a bad question though because redlining a gear is one thing (not necessary or ideal), and optimal shift point for best 1/4 mile time is another thing. And you’d have to preface the question with “stock” or a certain set of modifications to get a useful answer. And the stock bike doesn’t have a tach, so a lot of answers would be stated in MPH.
