The USA are not my Country and I do not pay my taxes to the USA
BUT
every time I turn on the TV I hear the same news...

How much do you pay privately to send your children to school?
Or are schools k-12 part of a Federal/State/County program ?

How much do you pay privately anytime you call 911 and ask for the Police / Fire Dept.?
Or are Police and Fire Depts. a combined Federal / State / County program ?

How much do you pay every time you drive your car/bike out of the garage and into the streets ?
Or is Vehicle Licensing and Road Maintenance part of a Federal / State / County program ?

Having said that... given that the Nation has ascertained that one needs to live in a safe and secure environment in order to work and earn one's money and pay due taxes...
...shouldn't that same Nation do all that is possible in order to make sure said Citizen is also in a fit state of health in order to work and earn his money and pay due taxes ?

Mister P, it's perception, or better yet, how it's presented.

Look at your example.
Those thinking they are entitled to bread and water, never intendeding to buy a meal with their own money.
Just taking up space, resources, and time of others.
While workers on their lunch have to return back to work, hungry, because these freeloaders wouldn't surrender the booth.

One politician promises them more bread to choose from, free.
The other points out these folks only take away and burden the worker bees, and will stop it.....
While both politicians take from the rich, with a wink and a nod.

Who wins?

The one who has orchestrated this whole affair.....
The fake media.
They need products, stories, to get folks hooked to the soap opera so they can sell advertising, etc.
Everyone lines up according to which slot they believe they will hit their own jackpot.
Screw everyone else.

Our highest court has ruled money is free speech.
We can not argue that money isn't then, power.

Well pg - if the AHCA passes, you won't have to worry. Your healthcare will be affected too. You might lose it, be taxed on it, see your premiums go up for the same care, maybe your relatives will lose theirs, etc.

How much would medicare for all cost? Look it up.

How much are we going to spend on tweety's tax breaks? Look it up.

Are the rich and corporations paying less or more than they were in the 70's? Look it up.

How much corporate welfare was given out last year alone? Look it up.

It's not about wanting everything, it's about doing what's right. If America is so god-darned great, why do we have people dying due to lack of medical care?

Thankfully our Navy is working hard to increase our need to increase our defense spending, which is why we can't afford health care. I see hundreds of grossly overweight people every time I go to the mall, due in large part to horrible eating habits due in large part to the cost of good healthy foods and due in large part to horrible lifestyle. And the NRA part of our health care system is working just fine. Half the deaths by gunshot are blacks, and 2/3 of the suicides by gun are native americans (AKA Indians). Now if only the AIDS epidemic among the gays hadn't been "controlled" so quickly. AH well, maybe next epidemic (which obviously will come via wetback from Mexico) so we will hafta build the Wall, unless it can be designed to zap the browns, in which case The Donald will switch to a super bridge. Did I miss anyone?
Now I'll get my tongue out of my cheek and let it go back to my missing tooth filling until I can save up the money for a crown! $950 Arrg.

Taxes for schools, police, are in the property taxes.
Roads are paid for in vehicle and fuel taxes.

And it's my understanding that in EU, bread and water are a menu item.

IMO, UHC is desirable, just not at this moment of extreme debt.
And shoulda been phased in... free emergency care with true triage of non-emergency.

Those ASSumptions are incorrect. Just look at the last three republican presidents. Look at what happened in KS.

It ain't. The burden is currently on my shoulders (since I'm part of the middle class). I feel that's wrong. Why is my burden so high and someone making over a million has virtually no impact on them?

Argue all you want about "trickle down" - it just doesn't (and won't) work.

*note - I use the word "burden" for a reason.
