I have been ridin' the Rebel 500 for a few days now and my hips and legs are starting to acclimate to the new ridin' position.
I am staring to get over the appearance of the Rebel and like the bike.
I am always going to love primitive motorbikes and especially the thumpers.
I am thinking the Japanese manufacturers have really made a lot of progress since 1986. Other than changing oil, and adjusting the chain periodically, the bike is pretty much maintenance free. The first valve adjustment is at 16,000 miles and after talking with CB500 riders they say they haven't bothered to adjust the valves at 16,000. The Rebel 500 shares the same engine as the CB500.
As I near 80 years old I am not sure how much longer I will be ridin' and I want to ride as often as I can. Sitting on the garage floor doing maintenance is no longer the fun that it was 40 years ago.
I think this bike is going to be OK.
